Jean Cochrane builds dynamic tools for understanding geography, technology, and distributions of power. They strive to be a steward of the commons and to make the work of others more productive and more meaningful. They live and work in Chicago, IL.

Jean is currently a backend engineer at Sendwave, where they build infrastructure to help migrants send money to family and friends. In the past, Jean built civic apps with DataMade, helped manage cloud infrastructure for Azavea, was a reporting fellow at City Bureau, and made comics and graphics for the South Side Weekly. They attended the Recurse Center in Fall 2018 and encourage you to do so, too.
